Telecom company Jio has launched a 4G feature phone for the masses dubbed the JioBharat 4G phone. The phone is now available on Amazon India for purchase at just ₹999. Given the affordable pricing, Jio’s aim is to roll out 4G phones with faster internet speeds across India; particularly those who are still stuck with 2G phones with abysmal internet speeds. It aims to attract the 250 million feature phone user market in India that use phones with slow/no internet connectivity.

The JioBharat 4G phone is available in collaboration with Karbonn, a popular Indian mobile phone OEM of the yesteryears. The device comes with both “Karbonn” and “Bharat” branding as well. Jio has also launched some affordable internet plans with this device starting at just ₹123. The phone is available in two named variants – JioBharat V2 and JioBharat K1 Karbonn – although they seem to be the same phones. So, let’s talk more about the JioBharat 4G phone.
JioBharat 4G specifications and features
The JioBharat 4G phone has pretty basic specifications as one would expect from a feature phone. You get a 1.77-inch TFT display, a 0.3 MP camera with LED flash, a 1,000 mAh battery, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The 1,000 mAh battery should be capable enough to last most users a whole day on a single charge, given the basic apps on the phone.
The phone also supports memory expansion via microSD card up to 128 GB. This is a brilliant feature to have at this price because it means users can store extra songs, pictures, and contacts should they fill up the built-in storage.
The phone is available in Ash Blue and Solo Black colour variants, according to the Jio website. It supports a total of 23 local languages, ensuring that most language preferences of users in India are catered to. Users also have the ability to easily send and receive payments using JioPay. Do note that the phone will only work with Jio SIM cards. You will also get a few preloaded Jio apps such as JioMusic, JioPay, JioCinema, and JioTV.
JioBharat 4G internet plans, price, and availability
Jio has launched some inexpensive internet plans to go along with the launch of the new JioBharat 4G phone. The plans start at merely ₹123 for a 28-day time period and this plan offers unlimited calls, 14 GB of 4G internet, and access to movie and streaming on the phone via Jio apps.

Users can also opt for the yearly plan that is priced at ₹1,234, which effectively gets you a discount since the monthly price comes down to only ₹102. This plan comes with unlimited calls and 168 GB of data.
