Apple has finally unveiled the most awaited smartphone series of the year, the iPhone 15 series. The new iPhone 15 series includes four smartphones: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and the high-end iPhone 15 Pro Max. Apple’s latest iPhone series boasts significant design enhancements, notably the introduction of the long-awaited USB Type-C port. In contrast, the iPhone 14 series featured a lightning port. The inclusion of the Type-C port has enabled the iPhone 15 series to deliver fast charging capabilities, a highly anticipated feature for users this year.

The new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models come with a back glass that is made stronger using a optimised dual-ion exchange method and then polished with tiny nanocrystalline particles. It’s also etched to give it a luxurious, textured matte finish. The aerospace-grade aluminum enclosure now has a contoured edge that will feel great in your hand. The front cover, made of Ceramic Shield, is extremely durable. The iPhone 15 and iPhone Plus model are also designed to be water and dust-resistant.

Both new devices maintain the same display size as their predecessors. The iPhone 15 sports a 6.1-inch display, while the Plus variant features a 6.7-inch screen. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus feature the Dynamic Island, an innovative and interesting way for users to interact with important alerts and Live Activities. According to Apple, the Super Retina XDR display is great for watching content, streaming Apple Fitness+ workouts, and playing games. The new models’ peak HDR brightness now reaches up to 1600 nits so HDR photos and videos look better than ever. Also, peak outdoor brightness reaches up to 2000 nits, twice as bright as the previous generation.

The new Apple iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models are equppied with the fast and efficient A16 Bionic chipset. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus come in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage capacities. Both of these smartphones run on the latest iOS 17. The 6-core CPU is faster and more power-efficient, with two high-performance and four high-efficiency cores. The 5-core GPU has 50% more memory bandwidth for delivering smoother graphics, and a new 16-core Neural Engine speeds up machine learning while maintaining strong privacy and security with the Secure Enclave.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus smartphones were initially launched with iOS 16.

The iPhone 14 and Plus share the same camera configurations. They are equipped with a 12-megapixel primary camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens. Additionally, both models feature a 12-megapixel selfie camera.


On the other hand, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus house a 48MP Main camera that offers sharp photos and videos while capturing fine details, with a quad-pixel sensor and 100 percent Focus Pixels for fast autofocus. Using the power of computational photography, the Main camera provides users a new 24MP super-high-resolution default. By intelligently integrating hardware and software, an additional 2x Telephoto option gives users three optical-quality zoom levels: 0.5x, 1x, 2x (first time on an iPhone dual-camera system).

Next-generation portraits on iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus feature sharper detail, more vivid colours, and improved low-light performance. For the first time, users can take portraits without having to switch to Portrait mode. When there’s a person, dog, or cat in the frame, or when a user taps to focus, iPhone automatically captures depth information, so users can turn photos into stunning portraits later in the Photos app on iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Also, for greater creative control, users can adjust the focus point after the photo has been taken. Apple also offers improvements to Night mode, including sharper details and more vivid colours. When lighting is bright or uneven, new Smart HDR captures subjects and the background with more true-to-life renderings of skin tones, while ensuring that photos have brighter highlights, richer midtones, and deeper shadows when viewed in the Photos app.

Apple iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus: Price & Availability

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will be available for pre-orders from Friday. The smartphones will be available for purchase on September 22. Speaking of the prices, the iPhone 15 has launched in India at a starting price of ₹79,900, whereas, the iPhone 15 Plus rolls out at a starting price of ₹89,900.The new smartphone models will be available in pink, yellow, green, blue and black colour options.
